Alice in Chains, Soundgarden + Nirvana Members Salute Jimmy Page in Seattle

When you have the cachet that Jimmy Page has, you can bet you’re going to get a pretty good turnout when it comes to musicians lining up to honor him. That was the case Thursday night (Nov. 19) in Seattle with a who’s who of rock on hand to pay homage to the Led Zeppelin and Yardbirds guitar great.

The show was a benefit taking place at Seattle’s Experience Music Project, with a bevy of artists joining Page in a run through of songs from throughout his career with a house band led by Duff McKagan and Barrett Martin.

The set opened with the Black Crowes‘ Rich Robinson and Moke’s John Hogg joining Page for some of the more bluesy and soulful songs of the set. They rocked through “Ten Years Gone,” “Custard Pie,” “Sick Again” and “Dazed and Confused,” before giving way to Alice in Chains‘ guitar and vocal counterparts Jerry Cantrell and William DuVall.

The AIC duo joined Page for performances of “When the Levee Breaks,” “Living Loving Maid (She’s Just a Woman),” “No Quarter” and “How Many More Times.” After that, DuVall stuck around, while Cantrell gave way to Soundgarden‘s Kim Thayil as they rocked through “Immigrant Song,” “Communication Breakdown” and “Four Sticks.”

The next change had DuVall exiting and Thayil remaining to play with Page, Hogg and Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic on “Out on the Tiles.” Cheap Trick‘s Rick Nielsen and Hogg lent their talents to “Happenings Ten Years Time Ago,” then Page’s The Firm bandmate Paul Rodgers came out to play their biggest single “Radioactive” with Tesla‘s Brian Wheat joining in.

The set ended with an all star performance including many of the night’s guests as they rocked through the Led Zeppelin classic “Rock and Roll.” You can check out a portion of “Radioactive” and the full “Rock and Roll” shot by a fan at the show in the player above. Just watch all that star power deliver one of rock’s true classics.
