Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators played a show at the House of Blues in Las Vegas to celebrate the end of 2015, but the show had some more somber moments as everyone in the room prepared to say goodbye to the year. The rock world lost two legends in December — Scott Weiland and Lemmy Kilmister — and Slash made sure to pay his tribute before the year was over.

Playing a set consisting of solo material with classic Guns N’ Roses cuts peppered in, they dipped into the Velvet Revolver pool first with “Sucker Train Blues.” Taking the mic, the top hat adorned guitarist introduced the song (video above) saying and honored his former bandmate, saying, “These amazingly talented, f–king original, character driven f–king personalities. We lost them both this year, so we’ll dedicate this one to Scott. It’s called “Sucker Train Blues.””

After closing the set with the Velvet Revolver classic, “Slither,” the band came back out for an encore and ripped into Motorhead‘s “Ace of Spades” (video below) to honor the fallen Lemmy Kilmister. For this one, bassist Todd Kerns assumed vocal duties and positioned the microphone overhead at a downward angle, just like the iconic frontman used to.

Former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland passed away on Dec. 3 while on tour with his band, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts. He was discovered on his tour bus before the start of the show and was pronounced dead when emergency responders arrived on the scene. A toxicology report indicated the singer overdosed from a comibnation of cocaine, ecstasy and alcohol.

The rock world was shaken up again over three weeks later when news broke about the sudden passing of Motorhead mainman and rock ‘n’ roll legend Lemmy on Dec. 28. As the details came in, it was revealed that Lem had been diagnosed with terminal brain and neck cancer just two days earlier and only two days after his 70th birthday.

Reports are also claiming that Slash has rejoined Gun N’ Roses and the band will be headlining the 2016 edition of the Coachella Festival, though mainman Axl Rose tweeted that the only thing he has confirmed is his love for Taco Bell.
