‘Metalcore’ Genre Debated On First Episode Of ‘Lock Horns’ Weekly Show

Liam Cormier (CANCER BATS, AXEWOUND) is the guest host for “Lock Horns”, a new metal debate club show on Banger TV‘s YouTube channel.

“Lock Horns” is a weekly show hosted by documentary filmmaker Sam Dunn debating the infamous “Heavy Metal Family Tree” made for Banger Films‘ 2004 documentary “Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey” and seen in the TV series “Metal Evolution”.

“Almost every day for the past 10 years, we’ve heard from metal fans about what they like, and what they don’t like about the tree. Mostly, what you don’t like. And so, we’re updating the tree, and you’re going to have a chance to have your say,” said Sam Dunn in an announcement video.

Each Thursday in November, “Lock Horns” will crack open a different metal subgenre and debate the essential bands that belong on that branch of the “Metal Tree.” And it will all stream live — fan comments will help determine which bands will stay, which bands may go, and most importantly which new bands will be added.

“Lock Horns” live streams Thursdays at 2 p.m. EST at this location.
