LAMB OF GOD’s MARK MORTON On CHRIS ADLER Playing With MEGADETH: I Am ‘Just Really Happy For My Friend’

LAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton spoke to Ireland’s Overdrive about his reaction when he first heard that LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler had been hired by MEGADETH to play on that band’s new record and upcoming tour. He said: “I think, for me, I was just really happy for my friend Chris, because he is a huge MEGADETH fan. I wouldn’t necessarily say that him playing with MEGADETH has had any bearing on us or what we do in terms of decision making or anything like that. Just knowing how important that band is to Chris and to have the opportunity to play some shows together and feature on the album makes me very happy for my friend.”

Morton also talked about LAMB OF GOD’s upcoming U.K. tour with MEGADETH, which will see Adler pulling double duty every night. He said: “Yeah, Chris will be playing with both LAMB OF GOD and MEGADETH for a few of these shows, with Dublin being the first of that run, so it will be pretty interesting to see how he hold up. [Laughs] It’s such a physical role for a musician, but Chris is in top shape right now, as he does a lot of cardio exercise and is very athletic in that sense and really looks after himself. I don’t think he will have a problem with things, but I’m pretty sure he’s gearing up for things right now, because it’s gonna take a lot of stamina to get through both sets.”

LAMB OF GOD’s seventh full-length album, “VII: Sturm Und Drang”, was released on July 24 via Epic in the U.S. and Nuclear Blast Entertainment in all territories outside of North America. The CD was once again produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur with engineering by Wilbur, Nick Rowe and Kyle McAulay, and was recorded at NRG Recording Studios in North Hollywood, California and Suburban Soul Studios in Torrance, California.
