KERRY KING Owns A SLAYER Christmas Sweater

SLAYER guitarist Kerry King was asked by AXS.com if owns a SLAYER Christmas sweater, and if he does, if he has ever worn it. He responded: “I’ve certainly not worn it. I do have one, though. I remember the first year it came out I was adamantly against it. I thought it was fucking awful. And, of course, Tom [Araya, SLAYER bassist/vocalist] loved it. I thought, ‘Well, Tom loves it.’ I’m not going to step on his feet and smash it, you know? There’s a market for it! And actually, the one that came out the second year was actually cool. I liked it. So I have that one. I thought, ‘If I’m going to have one, I’ll have this one because this one’s cool.'”

The SLAYER Christmas sweater was first introduced in 2012. Featuring the band name bordered by skulls and pentagrams in red, black and white, is still available from Locoape (a division of Toynk Toys LLC), the company that manufactures and licenses the logo from the band. The sweater retails for $89.99.

“Ugly Christmas sweater” or “tacky Christmas sweater” parties have been a holiday staple for several years, but there have been very few places to actually buy these sweaters. That has since changed, according to Time magazine, which reports that vintage stores, the Salvation Army, and Goodwill are reaping the benefits of this craze, as are fast-fashion shops like H&M and high-end retailers such as Nordstrom.

The market for ugly Christmas sweaters is so large that several stores even exist solely for the purpose of selling the the festive apparel.

Locoape is a trademarked brand of Toynk LLC. The Locoape brand serves as a licensee/manufacturer focused on producing fun and unique products covering the world of popular culture, toys, apparel and collectibles with an emphasis on the music industry.
