FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Working On ‘My Nemesis’ Video

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is putting the finishing touches on the music video for the song “My Nemesis”. The track will serve as the next single from the band’s latest album, “Got Your Six”, which entered the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 2, selling 119,000 copies in its first week of release. This was the band’s third straight No. 2 debut, following both volumes of “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell” in 2013. “Got Your Six”, however, did rack up the band’s best single sales week ever, surpassing the 112,000 copies sold of “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell, Volume 1”, in its first week.

Each of FIVE FINGER‘s previous albums has been certified gold in the U.S. for sales of 500,000 copies or more.

Speaking about “My Nemesis”, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Jason Hook said: “‘My Nemesis’, that was the second riff-type guitar lick that I set out to make — some sort of signature, identifiable guitar part. And I like it; it’s kind of got a wacky little sound and it’s instantly identifiable. I thought it was one of our strong tracks of the bunch at the time.”

Added FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH drummer Jeremy Spencer: “It was strong vocally, but we thought… [Singer Ivan Moody] was nailing it, nailing it, nailing it, and then when it came to the tagline of the song, he kind of took a left turn lyrically and it kind of threw us. I think it was called ‘Dark Genesis’ or something like that, initially. And we were, like, ‘Dude, you’re talking about relationship stuff all the way up to this point, and then you take this drastic left turn lyrically.’ It kind of confused us. So we kind of ended up meeting in the middle and ended up with ‘My Nemesis’.”

As previously reported, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will team up with SHINEDOWN for a series of co-headlining shows this May, in conjunction with all of their performances at the biggest U.S. festivals of the year.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH‘s video for the song “Wash It All Away” was shot by acclaimed music video director Wayne Isham (METALLICA, PANTERA, GODSMACK, DEF LEPPARD, BON JOVI, AVENGED SEVENFOLD). The clip was filmed at the band’s headlining show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut and showcases their highly visual stage show and the contagious energy that fuels the thousands of rabid fans in attendance.
