Eagles of Death Metal have vowed to return to Paris to perform again and now things are falling into place for the band as they’ve just announced their first European tour of 2016.
The band was onstage last month at Le Bataclan in Paris when terrorists invaded the venue and opened fire. In total, 89 people were killed at Le Bataclan that day. Shortly after the horrific attack, the band bowed out of their remaining European tour dates. They recently joined U2 at their show in Paris, marking their return to the city. While there, they also stopped by and saw the memorial tributes that have been left at Le Bataclan venue.
After collecting themselves following the tragedy, vocalist Jesse Hughes stated in an interview, “I cannot wait to get back to Paris … Our friends went there to see rock ‘n’ roll and died, I’m going to go back there and live.” Guitarist Josh Homme added, “We don’t really have a choice [but to finish the tour]. Not only for ourselves and our fans, not only for Nick Alexander, not only because this is our way of life … it’s the human condition.”
The band stated via Facebook, “We are proud to announce that our rescheduled European tour — now called ‘The Nos Amis Tour’ — will begin on February 13th. And we cannot wait to see your beautiful faces.”
As stated, Eagles of Death Metal will resume their European touring Feb. 13 in Stockholm, Sweden. The band’s Paris date comes three days later at the Olympia, not Le Bataclan. The group will remain on the road through mid-March, concluding with appearances at Lollapalooza shows in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. They’ve also announced four European dates in August as well.
