CANDLEMASS bassist and songwriter Leif Edling has launched a new solo project called THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM. He says in a video message introducing the new project: “As you perhaps know, I won’t be playing live with CANDLEMASS this year. I’m still burnt out. But hopefully I can do it next year. And in the meantime, I would like to introduce some solo stuff I’ve been working on for some time now, and I call it THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM. And it’s a low-key thing I’m doing without any label involved. And it’s metal the way it’s supposed to be, and it’s for all of you that love this kind of music as much as I do. And I hope you will enjoy it. Every week, I will put up a new film so I properly can present THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM to everybody interested and play a few snippets from it.”
CANDLEMASS recently completed work on a brand new EP. Four studio tracks featuring Mats Levén on vocals were recorded during September/October for a special anniversary release, to be released later this year on Napalm Records. The cover artwork for the EP was created by Erik Rovanperä.
CANDLEMASS has also announced that Levén, who’s a longtime friend of the band, is now the permanent singer for the Swedish doom metal squad. Also, Per Wiberg is today an essential part of CANDLEMASS’s touring lineup on keyboards and filling in for Edling until he’s back in shape again.
Edling’s AVATARIUM project released its second album, “The Girl With The Raven Mask”, in October 2015 via Nuclear Blast. The CD was released in North America as part of a joint licensing venture between Nuclear Blast and Metalville.
