2016 is shaking out quite well, especially early in the year where the release schedule is starting to take shape. Black Stone Cherry have thrown their name in the hat, announcing that they’re planning to release their latest disc, titled Kentucky, in spring of 2016.

The band just posted a behind the scenes video from the recording of the disc. You get a look at each of the members playing their instruments, laying down vocals and then inviting members of their respective families to the studio to check out some of the music. As you’ll see, there’s a whole crew of next generation Black Stone Cherry offspring that could take over at some point if the band members decided to pass their legacy down.

Earlier this year, vocalist Chris Robertson stated that the band would begin recording in October or November and it looks as though the group kept to that timeline. The band premiered a new song called “Roadrunner” at the Download Festival earlier this year, but it’s not known if the track will be part of the Kentucky disc.

Robertson added of the sound, “The new stuff we’re working on is heavy and it’s got an intensity. It’s kind of leaning back to our very first album.”

Black Stone Cherry will return to the road on Jan. 28 in Cardiff in the United Kingdom. The band has dates booked into late February that will keep them in the U.K. and playing through parts of Europe. At present, the band’s lone U.S. date is their appearance May 6 at the Carolina Rebellion festival. Keep up with their touring at this location.
