Guitar legend Zakk Wylde sat down with us to play a round of our signature game, ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’.
Wylde gave us one of our favorite episodes of ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’ to date! The shredder’s legendary career is covered in full, from Ozzy Osbourne to Black Label Society and even a stint he could have had as a member of Guns N’ Roses. Zakk tells us all about almost becoming Izzy Stradlin’s replacement in GN’R and how Ozzy Osbourne had to move on while Zakk was trying to make his Guns gig work.
Earlier in Zakk’s career, he had his Gibson guitars painted with his signature bullseye pattern, but it wasn’t supposed to end up that way. Wikipedia also says he adopted the style to differentiate himself from late Ozzy guitarist Randy Rhoads, but is it true?
Zakk clears up some fiction on Wikipedia, including a post claiming he had to audition to get back into Ozzy Osbourne’s band in both 2004 and 2005. However, Zakk proves some fact, too, like how Detroit Black Label Society fans drank every drop of alcohol in the venue during recording of the Boozed, Broozed & Broken-Boned DVD. This was the first time in the venue’s history it ever happened and Zakk has some hilarious banter about it.
