COHEED AND CAMBRIA’s video for the song “You Got Spirit, Kid” can be seen below. The clip, an homage to ’80s teen movies, was directed by DJay Brawner (REFUSED, GROUPLOVE) and follows the band as they take down a group of school bullies through a series of pranks.
“Our video for ‘You Got Spirit, Kid’ gave us a chance to showcase a relaxed side of the band’s personality,” said COHEED AND CAMBRIA frontman Claudio Sanchez. “With our love for ’80s nostalgia, we decided to approach the treatment in a John Hughes or Steven Spielberg-type fashion, allowing the spirit of youth and camaraderie to shine in each frame.”
“You Got Spirit, Kid” is taken from COHEED AND CAMBRIA’s new album, “The Color Before The Sun”, which is due on October 16 via 300 Entertainment. Digital pre-orders for the disc, which include an instant download of “You Got Spirit, Kid”, are available via iTunes, Amazon Music and Google Play. A limited-edition, deluxe box set featuring two hardcover books, four different pieces of music housed in a die-cut slipcase and a bevy of exclusive content is available while supplies last at CoheedAndCambria.com.
While the most conceptually abstruse COHEED records have always had a foundation in reality, “The Color Before The Sun” marks the first time Claudio Sanchez is exposing his raw feelings, narrated from his own perspective — the anxiety of fatherhood, the disorienting feeling of losing a home, the reflections had during early-morning walks. His own story is told through big, bright, driving, colorful songs that beam like power-pop, crunch like vintage ’90s emocore and float with the expansive feel of space-rock.
