Spotlight Report conducted an interview with former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach last month in Sydney, Australia. You can now watch the chat below.
Asked which of his last two solo albums, 2011’s “Kicking & Screaming” and “Give ‘Em Hell”, her prefers, Bach responded: “I can’t answer that, because I’m proud of both of them. I will tell you that Neil Young invented this digital music player called Pono, which plays back your music at studio-level quality, the sound. So I put all of my records in there — all SKID ROW… every record I ever did. And there’s one record that sounds just a tiny bit better than all of them, and I mean all of them, and that’s [2007’s] ‘Angel Down’. The production on there, I think, because it was recorded at Sound City, on that famous board, when you put that on, man, it sounds precious, the production. I love all my records, but I think that there’s something to be said for that Sound City recording studio and that analog board. I can hear a difference in that record than all of my other records, and that’s including the first SKID ROW album. There’s something about that one that sounds different than the others.”
Bach recently told May The Rock Be With You that he is “really dying to make a record that sounds like the records of the ’70s that I always listened to. I don’t know if that’s possible.” He added: “I’ve gotta give props to JUDAS PRIEST and BLACK SABBATH. The BLACK SABBATH ’13’ record inspired me, like, to… That sounds like an old album to me — the sound of it: the vocals, the drums, the guitars. And then I got the new JUDAS PRIEST recently, ‘Redeemer Of Souls’, and there’s three tunes on there that fucking destroy my brain, I love them so much. One of them is ‘March Of The Damned’, [which] is one of the best PRIEST tunes I think I’ve ever heard. And when I’m listening to that, I’m going, ‘Dude, you can do it. Just fucking do it. You can do it.'”
“Give ‘Em Hell” sold around 4,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 72 on The Billboard 200 chart.
The singer’s much-anticipated autobiography, “18 And Life On Skid Row”, will be released in early 2016 via Dey Street Books (formerly It Books), an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.
