RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS have postponed their concert for iHeart Radio due to the health of their frontman, who was rushed to hospital just moments before the band was due to hit the stage at a Californian festival over the weekend.
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS were forced to cancel their Saturday performance at the annual KROQ Weenie Roast in Irvine at the last minute after Kiedis was hospitalized. The singer was at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre when he began experiencing “extreme stomach pain.”
“No one’s more disappointed than us that we couldn’t perform tonight,” RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith tweeted last night. “Sending love and a speedy recovery to my brother Anthony.”
Earlier today, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS issued the following statement regarding Kiedis’s condition: “Due to Anthony Kiedis‘ hospitalization from complications from the intestinal flu on Saturday evening, the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS regretfully must postpone their upcoming concert for iHeart Radio on May 17th. They would like to extend their gratitude to the fans for the outpouring of well wishes. Anthony is expected to make a full recovery soon.”
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS‘ new album, “The Getaway”, is due out June 17. The first single, “Dark Necessities”, premiered earlier this month.
