Police Investigating ‘Serious Assault’ At BARONESS Concert In Leeds

Police has released a CCTV image of a man they want to identify in connection with a serious assault on a man during a BARONESS concert in Leeds, England.

A 25-year-old man from Dewsbury was watching the band perform at the Stylus venue at Leeds University Union shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26 when he was hit in the face after asking a man who had been deliberately bumping into people on the dancefloor to leave him alone.

The victim later went to hospital and was found to have a fractured eye socket and needed two metal plates fitting.

Police Constable Marc Guibert of Leeds District CID (Criminal Investigation Department) said: “The victim received very serious injuries and we urgently need to identify the man shown in the CCTV image.

“He was described as white, about 6ft 2ins to 6ft 4ins tall, medium build, with a shaved head. He was aged in his mid-twenties to mid-thirties and was wearing a checked shirt.

“Clearly the CCTV image is low quality but we hope that along with the description and the circumstances that someone will recognise him. We would like to hear from anyone who knows someone fitting that description who was at the BARONESS gig that night.”

The members of BARONESS recently slammed a fan who allegedly sexually assaulted another concert-goer at their recent show in Birmingham, England.

The band reacted to a blog post by writer Rosie Solomon who claimed a man subjected her to a sustained assault at the city’s O2 Institute on February 29.

In a statement, BARONESS said: “We have no tolerance for sexism, or any form of intolerant or insensitive behavior. In BARONESS‘ real, functioning touring world, we are witness to daily proof-by-example that gender exerts no weight on the scales of capability, strength or intelligence. Additionally, we are extremely sensitive to the gender-disparity that can exist, especially within the world of rock and metal music and we are embarrassed and disturbed that Rosie, or anyone, for that matter, could have had such a terrible experience at one of our shows.”

BARONESS is continuing to tour in support of its fourth album, “Purple”, which was released in December through Abraxan Hymns).
