According to the Las Vegas Sun, MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil raised a record $200,000 for the Keep Memory Alive charity Monday (February 15) while filming new episodes of “The Celebrity Apprentice”, NBC’s long-running business reality show.
Vince has set an additional $100,000 goal in a sales campaign challenge at his pop-up cupcakes and doughnut store at See’s Candy on S. La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Neil is among sixteen contestants who have signed on for the next season of “The Celebrity Apprentice”. Also participating in Season 8 of the reality-TV competition are retired UFC fighter Chael Sonnen, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of “Jersey Shore” fame, Muhammad Ali’s daughter and retired champion boxer Laila Ali, Kyle Richards of “The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills”, singer Boy George, NFL Hall Of Fame running back Eric Dickerson, comedian Jon Lovitz and stylist Carson Kressley.
NBC put the “Apprentice” franchise on hold after Donald Trump, the show’s host since it launched in 2004, entered the Republican race for president. He has since been replaced by Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former California governor and a world-famous movie star, known for films like the “Terminator” series.
Arnold’s first season is scheduled to premiere in September.
The celebrity version of “The Apprentice” has contestants compete to win money for their favorite charities. Celebrity contestants take part in business-driven tasks and work grueling hours on mentally challenging tasks that test their ability to work together.
Previous rockers who have appeared on “The Celebrity Apprentice” include TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider and POISON’s Bret Michaels.
Ratings for “The Celebrity Apprentice” have been down considerably since the show premiered in 2004, with the show’s most recent season, in January and February 2015, averaging 7.6 million viewers.
