Cooper in February told ABC News Radio that he was working on a new solo album and a follow-up to HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES‘ self-titled debut record, which came out last fall.
Cooper’s new solo album will feature contributions from his current backing group as well as material he has co-written with the other surviving members of the original ALICE COOPER band.
“[Drummer] Neal [Smith] and [guitarist] Mike [Bruce] and I just wrote two or three songs,” he said. “[Bassist] Dennis [Dunaway] and I wrote some songs together.”
He added: “When we broke up [in 1974], we broke up as friends. We never broke up as enemies. If they’re doing a gig, I show up and sing a few songs with them. If I’m doing a gig and they’re in town, they come up on stage. So, there’s never been any bad blood between any of us.”
In addition to Cooper, HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES features international film star and musician Johnny Depp and AEROSMITH’s Joe Perry.
Alice Cooper’s latest album, “Welcome 2 My Nightmare”, sold 18,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart. Cooper’s previous CD, 2008’s “Along Came A Spider”, opened with just under 10,000 copies to land at No. 53.
Recorded with longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, who produced the original multi-platinum “Welcome To My Nightmare” album in 1975, “Welcome 2 My Nightmare” picks up right where they left off, with Alice trapped in his own warped mind.
