Norwegian rockers KVELERTAK will release their third album, “Nattesferd”, on May 13 via Roadrunner. The follow-up to 2013’s “Meir” was recorded live at Amper Tone Studio in Oslo, Norway (KVELERTAK’s first effort to be recorded in the group’s homeland) and was produced by the band and mixed/engineered by Nick Terry (LINDSTRØM, TURBONEGRO, THE LIBERTINES).
The official video for the CD’s first single, “1985” can be seen below. The clip was directed, written and edited by Fredrik S. Hana and was produced by Gunhild Oddsen of GOfilm.
Commented KVELERTAK frontman Erlend Hjelvik: “We are finally getting ready to release our third album, ‘Nattesferd’, on the world, and however cliché it may sound, I’m not afraid to say that this is our best one yet. It’s an exquisite smorgasbord of riffs infused with everything between the best of classic rock and heavy metal. I’m certain it will blow the minds of both old and new fans.”
KVELERTAK will embark on a North American tour this month with special guests TORCHE and WILD THRONE. MUTOID MAN will also appear on select dates. The trek kicks off April 12 at Portland, Maine’s Port City Music Hall and will see KVELERTAK traversing west through early May.
KVELERTAK’s forthcoming third LP has garnered “Most Anticipated” accolades from the press, with Rolling Stone featuring it in the magazine’s “25 Most Anticipated Metal Albums Of 2016” round-up. Additionally, Stereogum placed the new LP at #36 on their “101 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2016” while Consequence Of Sound included it in their “20 Most Anticipated Metal Albums Of 2016” preview.
“Meir” topped the official chart in Norway. The CD, which sold 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release, was issued on March 26, 2013 via Roadrunner Records. It was produced by CONVERGE’s Kurt Ballou and features cover artwork by John Dyer Baizley.
KVELERTAK is Erlend Hjelvik (vocals), Vidar Landa (guitar), Bjarte Lund Rolland (guitar), Maciek Ofstad (guitars), Marvin Nygaard (bass) and Kjetil Gjermundrød (drums).
