According to TMZ.com, former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and VELVET REVOLVER singer Scott Weiland has been sued by the law firm who represented him in 2013 when he was being sued by his STP bandmates for allegedly sabotaging their tour.
G&M Law claims that it worked many hours for Weiland and filed a countersuit against the band on his behalf, but Weiland dropped the firm a year later and failed to make good on his tab. The law firm adds in the lawsuit that it was cooperative during the transition to the singer’s new legal representation, but still failed to see compensation for the work they did on the case.
G&M Law is asking for more than $50,000.
Weiland told The Pulse Of Radio back in February that his nearly two-year-old legal dispute with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS had been settled. Although he did not get into specifics, Weiland said that both parties had moved on. “It settled and everything is behind us now and, you know, I want to have a great time working [my new album] ‘Blaster’ and I wish, you know, my former bandmates best of luck and just want to move on forward.”
STP dismissed Weiland in February 2013, claiming that his solo activities and erratic behavior were detrimental to the band.
The group later sued Weiland, with the singer firing off a countersuit and claiming that they could not use the band name without his involvement.
In the meantime, STP hired LINKIN PARK frontman Chester Bennington as their new vocalist, releasing an EP called “High Rise” in October 2013. The band is now at work on a new album.
Weiland and his group THE WILDABOUTS released “Blaster” on March 31.
