GODSMACK Performs ALICE COOPER’s ‘School’s Out’ At Maryland’s THE SHINDIG (Video)

GODMACK performed a cover version of the ALICE COOPER classic “School’s Out” for the first time last night (Saturday, September 19) at The Shindig festival in Baltimore, Maryland. Fan-filmed video footage can be seen below.

GODSMACK drummer Shannon Larkin told a Springfield, Illinois radio station on September 14 that the band is already working on material for the follow-up to 2014’s “1000hp” album. Larkin revealed, “We’ve already got a bunch of songs even, and we’re gonna try and continue to write on tour [in the fall]. It’s not as easy to write when you’re on the road. But we have a jam room backstage, and we’re gonna and write as much as we can.”

Larkin added that the band will take most of November, December and January off before reconvening to work on its seventh studio effort, saying, “The plan is, February, and we’ll do it in Florida, where Tony [Rombola, guitar] and I live, and we have a studio down there. We’ll start there, start writing the new record, get a batch of songs, and then go up to Boston, where our headquarters is, and we have a recording studio up there that we can do our new record in.”

There is no release date set for the next album, with Larkin saying, “We’ll just take our time, make sure that we get something fresh.”

He added that the new songs will probably be “more high-energy rock and roll… We’re just gonna try and keep it to where it’s still tough sounding and aggressive and high energy. But it’ll be probably a more big rock sound.”

“1000hp” was GODSMACK’s first new album in four years and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard album chart.

The band began a fall North American tour last night in Baltimore, wrapping up on November 14 in Las Vegas. SEVENDUST, BREAKING BENJAMIN and RED SUN RISING will all appear at various points along the tour route.
