MUSHROOMHEAD paid tribute to legendary artist Prince by performing a cover version of “When Doves Cry” during the band’s May 5 concert at the Jewel nightclub in Manchester, New Hampshire. Fan-filmed video footage can be seen below.
MUSHROOMHEAD reportedly tried to include a cover of “When Doves Cry” on its 2006 album, “Savior Sorrow”, but was unsuccessful in securing the rights to release the song.
MUSHROOMHEAD is currently touring without vocalist Waylon Reavis, who severed all ties with the group and their record label, Filthy Hands, last October due to “irreconcilable differences with band ownership.”
MUSHROOMHEAD’s current lineup still includes two vocalists, J. Mann (a.k.a. Jason Popson) and Jeffrey “Nothing” Hatrix.
The band’s eighth studio album, “The Righteous & The Butterfly”, sold around 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 20 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on May 13, 2014 via Megaforce Records, the CD was recorded in Cleveland with longtime co-producer Bill Korecky.
